Prompt:http://litmuse.net/prompt_mailer
Im not real big on politics. And I remember exactly where I was when I first heard of the attack on the World Trade Center. I was in the hallway of my middle school, and one of my friends said that another student had to leave school early because his auntie was in the Towers when the plane hit it. To be honest, I didnt even know what the World Trade Center was until it was under attack. It was something that havent been taught to me yet. It wasnt until after the attack that I knew that America had enemies of that nature. Espically when I just left my Social Studies class and the instructor was telling me how great the United States is.
Mailer pointed out the fact that after 9/11, all of a sudden people became very patriotic and begun to wave the American flag everywhere. So after the attack, people looked for George Bush for an answer, and in return we went to war with the terrorists. And some where in the mist of the war, we started a war with Iraq. And all I can remember is people saying that they were against the war and they wanted Bush out of office. But obviously more people wanted him in office because he was reelected to serve a second time as our President. Either that or they were against Kerry and the gay people.
I dont see the purpose of everybody getting mad with Bush. I mean we were the people who put him in office 2 times. But when tragedy strikes, we arent satisfied with his judgement. We need someone to point the finger at, so why not the President. America has had two tragic incidents where the people of the United States were not happy with Bush's decisions, 9/11 and Hurricane Katrina. And I do find it funny that the States all of a sudden became United after both tragedies occured. Terrorist didnt come and flood New Orleans, so the President's to blame. Mailer seem to think that we are at war because of terrorists. And I would have to agree. But deep down inside I tink it was an act of revenge. And that we really wanted to go to war and the attack on 9/11 just intiated thw whole thing. We are at war with terrorist, but we are more at war with ourselves.

Pass. Americans feel the need to blame someone. So why not Bush?
